David Charles Wimmer who was 70 years old resided in Alamogordo, NM for over 30 years. He was born in Canastota, New York on April 16, 1947 to John Herman Wimmer and Ruth Naomi Trexler. David went to his heavenly home on August 9th, 2017 at 9:22 am where he passed peacefully from bladder cancer. He was a Vietnam Veteran who was a door gunner on Huey helicopters and a boom operator on KC135s who retired from the United States Air Force as a TSgt. at Castle AFB, California after over 20 years of service. He also retired from Civil Service at Holloman AFB. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 7686 of Alamogordo. He was a member of the Military Order of the Cooties Apollo 20 of Alamogordo. Dave loved collecting nascars. He loved to make people laugh and look at the brighter side of life. He loved to build things and he even built his own home.
David Wimmer was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Janis Barbara Martell Wimmer; two daughters, Tina Michelle Warner of Alamogordo, NM and Denise Cherie Houston & husband John Houston of Alamogordo, NM; and one son, Eric Keith Wimmer & wife Maria Struck Wimmer of Casper, Wyoming; 7 grandsons, David Warner, Dustin Houston, Scott Warner, Bryon Houston, Bradon Warner, Michael Houston, and Andrew Houston; 3 granddaughters, Taylor Corbin, Cordelia Wimmer, and Elise Wimmer; and one great grandson, Kayden Houston.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7686 Hwy 70 West Alamogordo, NM with burial services at Fort Stanton Veterans Cemetery.
The Wimmer family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
